We are very grateful to all the parents that sent the supplies for our feast. We were brave and tried clams! Our vote on the flavor ranged from delicious to I need to spit in the trash can immediately and rinse my mouth. The homemade deer jerky was a huge hit. Thank you for sharing your bounty with us.
Christmas Program: Your children have been assigned a speaking part in the Christmas program. Please help your child memorize his or her lines. If it gets misplaced send me an e-mail and I will send another copy home. We will also work on memorizing our lines in class. If you are going to be unable to attend it is important to let me know so arrangements can be made for the part your child was assigned.
What we have been working on in class:
Reading: We read nonfiction text about the Pilgrims and the Native Americans. We were amazed to learn that the First Thanksgiving happened around 400 years ago.
Writing: We wrote about what life would be like if we were a Pilgrim and as a Native American. We also worked on the inflectional ending "ed". We practiced sorting words that end in "ed" based on the sound it makes /d/, /t/, or /id/. have your child practice reading words ending in "ed".

Math: We are working on telling time to the hour and half hour. We are also practicing alternating counting by 1's, 5's, and 10's to help us tell time as well as to count combinations of coins. We continue to work on expanding our understanding of numbers and how they are related. We will be working on adding three digit numbers and the associative property. The associative property states that when three or more numbers are added, the sum is the same regardless of which numbers are added together first. (7 + 3) + 2 = 10 + 2 Both equal 12
7 + ( 3 + 2) = 7 + 5 Both equal 12
